Ar. Kholood Akbari is a Bahraini architect, sustainability advocate, and Managing Director of Akbari Architects. She holds a BSc in Architectural Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and a Higher Diploma in Adaptation of Sustainability from the University of East London. With a career spanning over four decades, she has led diverse architectural and interior design projects that blend modern design with deep environmental consciousness.
Kholood pioneers a holistic approach to sustainability—one that integrates environmental responsibility with cultural understanding and economic resilience. She believes that truly sustainable design must honour local heritage, support community well-being, and remain economically viable for future generations. As the founder of the “Floating Gardens” landscaping firm and a certified Ecovillage Designer by Gaia education from Italy, she continues to champion green architecture and regenerative development across Bahrain and beyond.
